Nightlife
There are two main nightlife districts in Hong Kong. Wan Chai and Central -Lan Kwai Fong (LKF). Also just
up the hill from LKF is the burgeoning Wyndham Street. Down the hill form Wyndham is the up and coming Peels street where you can drink in the street amongst the bars and pizza shops. Bars are plentiful in Hong Kong and they
stay open late!
The Trafalgar Bar in Wan Chai is the home of HKRSC and Devils Advocate is another Bear friendly bar. We have secured discount on food and drink and both establishments: 20% at Trafalgar and 10% at Devils with no service charge.
Getting Around
The Hong Kong transport system is second to none.
The local underground system is called the MTR (Mass transit Railway) and is fast, clean, cheap
and efficient! An Octopus card can be purchased for use on buses and underground. The app is also available to download ( Octopus for tourists).
Taxis are plentiful and cheap! ( CASH ONLY)They have no late night charges and start at HK$29 per journey. Uber is also widely available.
There are also the local trams (ding-dings!) to get you around. These cost $3(about (£0.30p) no matter the
length of journey. This is also the same cost as the Star Ferry which will take you from Hong Kong
island to Kowloon – This is a “must-do” journey!
Money
You can pay with Apple Pay / Contactless card payments nearly everywhere you go but its good to carry some cash around ( especially for taxis or local restaurants ) Banks and ATM’s are plentiful and there are many money exchange shops in and around Causeway Bay. £1 = $10hkd so quite an easy conversion.
